The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has uncovered a disturbing development involving bandits allegedly paying informants ₦150,000 monthly to spy on security operations in the state.

According to the Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, operatives recently arrested four suspects who confessed to working as informants for bandit groups operating in parts of Ondo State.

During interrogation, one of the suspects, identified as Adebayo Ogungbemi, reportedly confessed that the leader of the bandits recruited and trained them to gather intelligence on the movement of security operatives. The suspect also revealed that each informant received a monthly payment of ₦150,000 from the bandit leader in exchange for information.

“Our operatives apprehended four individuals who have been aiding bandits by providing them with critical security information. One of the suspects confessed that they were paid ₦150,000 monthly to carry out spying activities,” Commander Adeleye stated.

Adeleye added that the suspects were caught with dangerous weapons, narcotic substances, and items believed to have been used to communicate with the bandit group. He assured residents that Amotekun remains committed to flushing out criminal elements and maintaining peace across the state.

This revelation comes amid growing concerns over the activities of informants assisting bandits and kidnappers across the North and parts of the Southwest. Security experts have called for stronger intelligence coordination among local and federal agencies to curb infiltration within community security networks.
