FAAC Shares ₦1.969 Trillion as December Revenue to FG, States, LG Councils

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a total of ₦1.969 trillion as revenue generated in December 2025 among the Federal Government, the 36 state governments, and the 774 local government councils.
The revenue allocation was confirmed at FAAC’s January 2026 meeting held in Abuja.

According to official figures, the distributable revenue comprised ₦1.084 trillion from statutory revenue, ₦846.507 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and ₦38.110 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).

After deductions for the cost of revenue collection and other statutory transfers, the remaining balance was distributed among the three tiers of government in line with the revenue-sharing formula.

Under the allocation formula, the Federal Government received the largest share, followed by state governments and local government councils.

Economic analysts note that the revenue distribution comes at a critical time as subnational governments continue to grapple with rising expenditure obligations, infrastructure needs, and public service demands.

The monthly FAAC allocation remains a major source of funding for all tiers of government, particularly for states and local governments that rely heavily on federal allocations to finance their budgets.
