Black Christmas: Fighter Jet Bombs Sokoto Communities, Kills Over 10 Villagers

By Damilola Adeleke

A tragic incident occurred on Christmas Day in Sokoto State, Nigeria, where a fighter jet bombed two communities, Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, in the Silame local government area. The jet was targeting Lakurawa terrorists who have been terrorizing the communities. Unfortunately, villagers were caught in the crossfire, with reports indicating that over 10 villagers were killed and several others injured.

The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, described the residents of the affected communities as peace-loving people, stating that they had no criminal records. He also mentioned that they were still assessing the extent of the damage.

This incident is a sobering reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions. The government has been working to address these issues, but it’s clear that more needs to be done to protect innocent civilians.
