Terrorists Launch Drone Attack on Nigerian Army Base

By Damilola Adeleke

Suspected Boko Haram militants carried out a bombing attack on a Nigerian military base situated in Wajiroko, within Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The assault, which took place on December 24, involved multiple armed drones carrying improvised grenades targeting the Forward Operating Base.At least six soldiers sustained injuries in the attack. They received immediate first aid treatment at the base and are awaiting further medical care.

According to reports, the incident began with gunfire as the insurgents initiated a brief assault, which the soldiers successfully repelled. However, the militants escalated the attack by deploying drones equipped with explosives to strike the base a second time.

Military sources disclosed that four armed drones were observed during the operation. Additionally, a military gun truck was reportedly damaged in the incident.

Boko Haram, a longstanding insurgent group in Northeastern Nigeria, has continued to wreak havoc in the region for nearly two decades, resulting in widespread displacement and loss of life.

While the Nigerian military has frequently claimed significant victories against the group, Boko Haram remains a persistent and formidable threat, carrying out sporadic attacks across the region.
