BREAKING: Gov Sule Sacks All Commissioners, SSG

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has dissolved the state’s executive council, which included all commissioners, and terminated the appointment of Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Muhammad Aliyu-Ubamdoma.
The announcement was made during a special emergency executive meeting held at the Government House in Lafia on Friday. This meeting took place shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima departed from the state, following a one-day working visit to commission several projects.
While the exact reasons for the dissolution remain unclear, sources within the government have suggested that it may be part of the governor’s broader strategy to restructure and enhance the state’s administrative efficiency. In 2021, Governor Sule similarly dissolved the executive council to create a more effective governance framework.
According to a statement signed by Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, Permanent Secretary of Cabinet Affairs and Special Services, Governor Sule expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the outgoing council members toward the state’s development. He urged them to hand over their responsibilities and government properties to the respective permanent secretaries of their ministries.
The SSG is expected to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of Cabinet Affairs and Special Services. In July 2023, Governor Sule nominated 17 commissioners for screening by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. As the political climate evolves, residents of Nasarawa State are awaiting further clarification on the governor’s plans for the future direction of the administration.
This decision marks another significant step in Governor Sule’s leadership, emphasizing his commitment to restructuring and progress in the state.
