Obi a Doomsayer, Hellbent on Inciting Nigerians Against Tinubu — APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Peter Obi’s New Year message, labeling it as “misleading” and a tactic to gain cheap political points. Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, had criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration in his address, citing concerns about corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and escalating national debt.

Obi accused the Tinubu administration of deepening corruption and promoting nepotism, urging the government to take bold steps to alleviate Nigerians’ suffering.Responding in a statement on Thursday, Felix Morka, the APC spokesperson, dismissed Obi’s remarks as unfounded, arguing that the country’s economy is showing signs of improvement under Tinubu’s leadership. Morka also accused Obi and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of attempting to stir public outrage against the government. The APC criticized Obi’s leadership record, claiming he achieved little during his tenure as governor of Anambra State. The party accused him of presenting himself as a “leading doomsayer” and dismissed his criticism as politically motivated.

Highlighting the administration’s progress, Morka cited reforms aimed at reducing inflation to 15% by 2025 and ongoing anti-corruption efforts as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the country. He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its potential to deliver lasting benefits.
