FUOYE Student Gets Justice in Alleged Sex-for-Grades Case

FUOYE – A female student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Miss Ramota Olahanloye, has finally received justice in a case of alleged sexual harassment involving one of the institution’s lecturers, Dr. Anthony Agbegbedia. The case, which drew significant attention, involved claims that Dr. Agbegbedia made inappropriate advances toward Miss Olahanloye and, upon her refusal, deliberately failed her in two final-year courses.

Following an investigation by a university-appointed panel, her scripts were remarked, resulting in significantly improved scores. With her updated results, the management approved her final year results, clearing her to graduate. Miss Olahanloye has since begun her final clearance process.Her father, Mr. Rasaki Olahanloye, expressed satisfaction and relief over the outcome. Speaking on the university’s main campus, he confirmed that his daughter’s results had been upgraded after the remarking process, enabling her to graduate. He commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, and the investigative panel for their dedication to ensuring justice was served.“

I can confirm that the Federal University Oye-Ekiti has served justice to my daughter,” he stated. “I appreciate the committee members and particularly the Vice-Chancellor for their efforts. I now appeal to the media to cease further reports on this matter as the case has been resolved.”Miss Olahanloye also shared her joy at the resolution of the case, expressing gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the committee. She confirmed that her name appeared on the official graduation list and appreciated the opportunity to move forward with her academic journey.

The university management disclosed that Dr. Agbegbedia had been sanctioned for his misconduct, though details of the punishment were not made public.This case underscores FUOYE’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and protecting the rights of its students.
