By Damilola Adeleke

In a decisive move against escalating banditry, the Air Component troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA neutralised 80 notorious bandits in Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State, on January 4, 2025. The operation, carried out in collaboration with the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Community Watch Corps, and Vigilantes, targeted bandit camps in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsaba.

This joint air and ground offensive, launched following credible intelligence reports, not only eliminated 80 bandits but also destroyed their camps and key operational facilities, significantly weakening their capacity to carry out attacks in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa Local Government Areas. Several bandits sustained injuries during the operation, further diminishing their threat in the region.

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, expressed his excitement and commended the success of the operation. Dr. Nasiru Muazu, the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, lauded the unwavering commitment of the joint security team, emphasizing that this victory marks a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in the state and the entire North West region.

This operation underscores the Nigerian military’s resolve to curb banditry and protect communities, bringing renewed hope to the residents of Katsina and its environs.
