Morka Denies Threat Allegations, Calls for Accountability from Peter Obi

By Damilola Adeleke

Felix Morka, the National Spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied accusations made by Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, alleging threats against his life. Obi, in his New Year message, claimed that he and his family had faced threats due to his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Obi attributed these threats to Morka’s comments during an interview on Arise TV, where Morka allegedly stated, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and he has what’s coming to him, and whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

In a detailed response, Morka categorically refuted the allegations, labeling them as false and malicious. He clarified that his remarks were not intended as a personal threat but were general observations on Obi’s political conduct. “The allegation that I threatened Mr. Obi is a baseless lie and an intentional attempt to play the victim,” Morka said.

He further accused Obi of deliberately misrepresenting his statements to garner sympathy and political leverage. Morka condemned the backlash he and his family have faced, describing the threats and online harassment as unacceptable. He urged Obi to retract his claims, issue an apology, and call on his supporters to stop the harassment.

As a public figure, Morka emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency in public discourse. He argued that false accusations erode public trust and are especially irresponsible coming from someone aspiring to lead the nation.

Morka reaffirmed his commitment to holding Obi and other opposition figures accountable, emphasizing that criticisms of the government must be rooted in truth. He also pledged to defend his reputation and the integrity of his office against baseless claims.

In conclusion, Morka called for responsible and fair political discourse, urging all public figures to prioritize truth and integrity in their engagements with the media and the public.
