The pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adebisi Akande, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms as a “child of necessity,” deliberately designed to eradicate bad governance and liberate Nigeria from years of political retrogression and ineffective leadership.

Speaking during his 86th birthday lecture and inter-denominational prayers in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, Akande praised Tinubu’s federal policies as tailored to reset Nigeria on the path of greatness, socioeconomic rejuvenation, and sustainable development envisioned by the nation’s founding fathers.

Reaffirming his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda, Akande stated that Tinubu’s reforms have been yielding positive results and that Nigeria would soon serve as a global model. He noted that the APC was established to restore good governance, a mission Tinubu has been diligently pursuing.

“Today, I am happy that our great party is working tirelessly to liberate Nigeria and permanently end bad governance that had plagued the country for years. The APC, under former President Buhari and now President Tinubu, is committed to correcting the misgovernance of the past and getting Nigeria back on track,” Akande said.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and honest, stressing the importance of integrity, education, and doing things the right way to move the country forward.

Earlier, Dr. Adeoye Oyewole, a Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, emphasized the need for Nigerians to prioritize health and family over frivolities amid current economic challenges. He advised against unnecessary displays of wealth, which he said have adverse effects on mental and physical well-being.

Renowned guests, including Professor Olu Aina and Prince Tunde Ponle, lauded Akande as a role model for young politicians, emphasizing honesty and transparency as essential leadership qualities exemplified by him.

Dignitaries at the event included former Ministers Professor Isaac Adewole and Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, MD/CEO of NIWA; former Osun Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi; APC State Chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal; and Professor Siyan Oyeweso, Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, among others.

As part of the celebrations, secondary school students joined Akande and toured the facilities of the newly established Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun.
