BREAKING: Reno Omokri Ordered to Be Remanded in Prison Custody

The Chief Magistrate Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has ordered the remand of Reno Omokri, a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, in prison custody. This order follows a motion filed by the Nigeria Police Force on January 13, 2025.

The court’s ruling, issued by Chief Magistrate Emmanuel A. Iyanna, also affects Pastor Abraham Daniel, along with Alexander Enenche and Enenche Idoga. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, filed the ex-parte motion, which cited allegations of defamation and incitement of public nuisance.Omokri, widely known as a social media activist, has been directed to appear before the court on January 30, 2025, for further proceedings.

The case involves a petition filed by Patrick O. Okolo, SAN, accusing Omokri and others of cyber-bullying, criminal defamation, and incitement. Omokri is yet to be apprehended, while Pastor Abraham Daniel has reportedly been detained following allegations stemming from a prior dispute with Dunamis Church leadership.

The court emphasized that the respondents, including Omokri, are to be remanded in custody pending further investigations and prosecution.
