Lagos Assembly Speaker Names New Principal Officers

The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, has announced the appointment of new principal officers during her first plenary session on Friday, January 17, 2025, following her election on January 13.

Hon. Temitope Adewale of Ifako-Ijaiye State Constituency I was named the new Majority Leader, replacing Hon. Noheem Adams of Eti Osa State Constituency I.Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasumu (Ikeja State Constituency II) retained his role as Deputy Majority Leader, while Hon. David Setonji (Badagry State Constituency II) also continued as Chief Whip.

Hon. Sanni Okanlawon (Kosofe State Constituency I) was appointed Deputy Chief Whip, succeeding Hon. Mojeed, who is now the Deputy Speaker.

Out of 40 lawmakers, 37 attended the session, with notable absentees including former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Hon. Nureni Akinsanya, and ex-Majority Leader Hon. Noheem Adams.
