Council Election: Omisore accuses Adeleke of desperation for Council funds

By Damilola Adeleke

Former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has criticized Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for organizing what he describes as illegal local government elections. According to Omisore, the state electoral commission, under Adeleke’s directive, conducted an illegitimate poll to fill positions that, legally, were not vacant.

In a statement, Omisore accused the governor of ignoring a clear Court of Appeal judgment that reinstated 30 council chairmen and their councillors. He argued that Adeleke’s insistence on conducting the election was motivated by a desire to take control of council funds, warning that such actions could plunge the state into chaos.

He further condemned the state government’s defiance of legal rulings, wasteful use of public resources, and alleged attempts to manipulate the judiciary. Omisore stated that Adeleke’s actions amount to a “crime against democracy and humanity” and could lead to a state of emergency in Osun.

He called the entire election process a “shameless charade” and held the governor responsible for any potential breakdown of law and order in the state.
