El-Rufai Mobilizes Opposition Against Tinubu, APC Reacts

By DAMILOLA ADELEKE

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged moves to unite opposition figures against President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Reports suggest that El-Rufai, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has been rallying key northern political figures and influential stakeholders in what appears to be a strategic opposition alignment.

Reacting to these developments, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, accused El-Rufai of advancing an ethnic agenda, allegedly fueled by his dissatisfaction with being left out of Tinubu’s cabinet. The ruling party views his actions as an attempt to destabilize its stronghold ahead of the next presidential election.

As political tensions rise, observers believe El-Rufai’s influence in the north could play a significant role in shaping the 2027 electoral landscape. However, it remains to be seen whether his efforts will translate into a formidable opposition strong enough to challenge the APC’s dominance.
