Ekiti State University Matriculates Over 4,000 Students

By Damilola Adeleke

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has officially welcomed over 4,000 new students into the institution for the 2021/2022 academic session through a matriculation ceremony conducted both physically and virtually.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edward Olanipekun, congratulated the new students and assured them that they had made a great choice by enrolling at EKSU. He highlighted the university’s recent achievements, stating that EKSU had been ranked as the second-best state university in Nigeria, the 14th overall best university in the country, and the 18th best in terms of graduate employability.

Professor Olanipekun encouraged the new students to take pride in their admission and maximize their time at the university. He also issued a stern warning about fraudulent activities, advising students to make all payments through the official university portal to avoid falling victim to cyber fraudsters. He emphasized EKSU’s zero-tolerance policy for anti-social behavior, warning that any violation of the institution’s rules and regulations would be met with strict disciplinary action.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the announcement that all duly registered students had been assigned matriculation numbers and identity cards automatically through the university portal. Some students’ names were called out, and their identity cards were displayed, a move that was met with excitement and appreciation from the freshers.

The university’s Registrar, Mr. Ife Oluwole, administered the matriculation oath to the new students, officially inducting them into the EKSU academic community.
