President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly appointed Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The newly appointed DG, an artillery officer, hails from Ileogbo in Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State.

Although an official confirmation from the presidency was still pending at the time of this report, expectations are high that Brigadier-General Olakunle’s leadership will bring renewed vision to the NYSC program. His appointment is anticipated to reinforce the scheme’s core objectives of national unity, youth empowerment, and community development.

Once confirmed, Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle will take over from the outgoing NYSC DG, Brigadier-General Yushau Ahmed. His tenure is expected to introduce strategic improvements aimed at addressing challenges within the NYSC program, ensuring its continued relevance in fostering national integration and youth development.
