South-East Youth Leaders Issue 48-Hour Ultimatum to Fulani Herdsmen

By Damilola Adeleke

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has given Fulani herdsmen in Enugu State a 48-hour deadline to vacate the area, citing rising concerns over violence and insecurity.

In a statement released on Wednesday, COSEYL President-General, Goodluck Ibem, condemned the alleged attacks and sexual violence in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area. He described the situation as unacceptable, labeling the perpetrators as “terrorists on a land-grabbing mission” rather than genuine cattle rearers.

The coalition expressed outrage over reports of gruesome attacks, stating that the people of Enugu have suffered enough. They called on Governor Peter Mbah and security agencies to take immediate action by arresting and prosecuting those responsible.

COSEYL further urged youths in affected communities across the South-East to rise and defend their land, stressing that “enough is enough.”
