Wike Did Not Slump in Abuja – Lere Olayinka

By Damilola Adeleke

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming that his principal collapsed in Abuja.

Speculation spread across social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that Wike slumped at an event in the nation’s capital on Friday and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

However, Olayinka refuted the claim, calling it “fake news” when contacted for clarification.

This development comes amid rising political tensions in Rivers State, where a conflict persists between the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and Wike, his former political ally.

The crisis deepened on Friday following allegations made by the former Head of Service in Rivers State, George Nwaeke, against Fubara, further intensifying the state’s political unrest.
