You Can’t Talk About Sincerity — Atiku Fires Back at Wike

By Damilola Adeleke

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has accused Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of betraying the party and lacking the moral ground to discuss sincerity in politics.

This comes in response to Wike’s remarks during a media chat in Abuja, where he criticized the ongoing coalition against President Bola Tinubu, labeling it insincere and driven by selfish ambition. Wike claimed Atiku and other coalition leaders were only interested in power, not rebuilding the PDP.

Atiku, through his media aide Paul Ibe, dismissed Wike’s comments, stating:

“Wike is not in a position to talk about sincerity. This is a man who betrayed his party and is working with the APC to destroy it. What does he know about sincerity? Nothing.”

He further alleged that Wike was undermining his home state of Rivers and attempting to control the state government in alliance with forces in Abuja.

“He should be sincere to his principal, President Tinubu, and tell him to return home to do his job. The coalition is made up of sincere Nigerians determined to reclaim the country from the APC.”

Atiku maintained that the coalition aims to offer Nigerians a fresh alternative in 2027, adding that it is “not about individuals, but about Nigeria.”
