Insecurity Spreads to Southwest as Gunmen Kidnap Six Real Estate Marketers in Ogun

By Erewunmi Peace

Ogun State has witnessed a disturbing surge in insecurity as six real estate marketers were abducted by gunmen during a site visit in Obafemi‑Owode Local Government Area.

The victims, affiliated with a Lagos‑based real estate firm, were reportedly inspecting a land site at Oyebola village when the incident occurred on Friday. Eyewitnesses say the attackers intercepted the team, forcing them into vehicles before fleeing the scene.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the abduction and has launched a search-and-rescue operation to secure the release of the marketers. Police spokesperson Lanre Ogunlowo reassured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the victims’ safety.

This incident adds to growing concerns about the security situation in the Southwest region, where similar attacks have been reported in recent months. Authorities continue to urge caution and vigilance among residents and business operators in vulnerable areas.
