NAFDAC Seals 18 Warehouses in Niger State over Expired Food Products Worth ₦100 Million

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Bida, Niger State, after discovering large quantities of expired food and beverage products valued at over ₦100 million.
The enforcement operation, carried out by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team, targeted warehouses along Minna Road and behind Bida Modern Market, acting on credible intelligence about illegal storage of expired and potentially harmful products.
Authorities recovered thousands of expired items, including non-alcoholic drinks, dairy products, bottled water, pasta, and confectionery, all of which were unfit for consumption. The managers of the warehouses were arrested and detained for questioning.
NAFDAC further extended inspections to linked supermarkets in Minna, where additional expired and allegedly counterfeit products were found. Those stores were subsequently sealed pending further investigation.
In a statement, NAFDAC emphasized that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and clamp down on the distribution of expired and unsafe food products. The agency assures the public that regulatory sanctions will follow against those found culpable.
