By Erewunmi Peace
The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested three individuals suspected of financing and supporting bandit operations across parts of the state.
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation in Tangaza Local Government Area following intelligence reports linking them to cattle rustling and the supply of funds to bandit groups. Police authorities said the men were caught while attempting to sell four cows believed to have been stolen during a recent attack.
According to the command, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects may be part of a wider network facilitating the movement of funds, stolen livestock, and essential supplies to bandits operating in the region. The police stated that efforts are ongoing to track additional accomplices and dismantle the network.
In a related operation, officers also recovered several stolen motorcycles and arrested other individuals alleged to be involved in aiding criminal activities around the border communities.
The Sokoto State Police Command reiterated its commitment to intensifying security operations and urged residents to continue providing timely information to assist law enforcement agencies.
The suspects are expected to face further interrogation as investigations continue.
