The Imo State Police Command has dismissed three officers following allegations that they kidnapped a man and extorted ₦1.7 million at gunpoint.
The decision came after an internal investigation and orderly room trial found the officers guilty of misconduct.

The three dismissed officers — including two sergeants and one corporal — were reportedly involved in posing as members of an anti-kidnapping unit before abducting the victim and demanding money.
The incident occurred in Owerri, the state capital, prompting a formal complaint from the victim.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Imo State Police Command conducted an investigation, verified the allegations, and held a trial within the police disciplinary system.
The officers were found culpable and dismissed from service.
