Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips, has accused operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of extorting ₦10 million from him before securing his release.

The rapper, who shared his experience in a recent interview, claimed he was arrested in November 2024 during a late-night raid on his estate. According to him, the EFCC officials accused him and several others of involvement in internet fraud.

“They took all of us away. After their investigation, they found nothing incriminating. Yet, I was told to pay ₦10 million before I could be released,” Oladips alleged.

He further revealed that he spent about five days in detention before regaining freedom after the alleged payment.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not issued an official statement confirming or denying the musician’s allegations. Attempts to reach the Commission for a response have not been successful.

The claims have since generated wide reactions on social media, with fans and critics calling for transparency and accountability in the country’s anti-graft operations.

Analysts note that if true, the allegation raises serious concerns about abuse of power within the nation’s law enforcement agencies.
