Soludo Clears All 21 LGAs, Wins Anambra Governorship Election

By Erewunmi Peace

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra State Governorship Election after recording victory in all 21 local government areas of the state.

Announcing the results on Sunday in Awka, the INEC Returning Officer confirmed that a total of 584,054 valid votes were collated across the state. Soludo polled 422,664 votes, maintaining a commanding lead over his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes.

Other candidates trailed behind with smaller margins. INEC described the election as largely peaceful despite reports of low voter turnout and minor logistical challenges in some polling units.

With the official declaration, Soludo has secured a second term in office, reaffirming his position as one of the most dominant political figures in the South-East region.

Addressing journalists after the announcement, Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra State for their continued trust and pledged to deepen his administration’s developmental agenda.

“This victory belongs to Ndi Anambra. We will continue to make our state a model for good governance, innovation, and peace,” Soludo said.

The electoral body urged all political parties and candidates to accept the results in good faith and channel any grievances through appropriate legal processes.

Supporters of APGA took to the streets of Awka, Nnewi, and Onitsha to celebrate the landslide win, chanting solidarity songs and waving party flags.

INEC is expected to issue Soludo his certificate of return later this week.
