President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged newly commissioned police officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights as they begin active duty in the Nigeria Police Force.

The President delivered the charge during the passing-out parade of 1,187 cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano, where the officers were officially commissioned as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs). He was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Tinubu stated that the administration remains committed to building a modern, people-centred police force capable of protecting citizens, defending the rule of law, and responding to complex security challenges across the country. He noted that the newly graduated officers must contribute to rebuilding public trust in law enforcement.

The President emphasized that integrity, discipline and respect for citizens’ rights must guide all policing activities, saying that a reformed police force is essential to Nigeria’s stability and democratic growth.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to comprehensive police reforms, improved training facilities, enhanced welfare, and stronger accountability mechanisms across security agencies.

The 1,187 officers, drawn from various academic and training departments of the academy, are expected to be deployed nationwide to strengthen policing operations.

The event was attended by senior government officials, top police commanders, policymakers, and families of the graduating cadets.
