Ambode Unfolds Gubernatorial Bid, supports Tinubu’s re-election.

Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has publicly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, describing the President as the right leader to continue driving Nigeria’s development.
Ambode, who spoke through Dr. Seyi Bamigbade during a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) sensitisation campaign in Badagry, urged Lagos residents to register and collect their PVCs ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stressed that active civic participation was key to strengthening democracy.
“President Tinubu deserves another term in office, and we in Lagos will continue to mobilise in his support,” Ambode said.
While some media outlets have reported that Ambode also declared his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos Governorship Election, this claim has not been widely confirmed. Trusted national dailies, including Vanguard, Guardian, and Punch, reported his endorsement of Tinubu but made no mention of a governorship announcement.
Political analysts note that Ambode’s renewed visibility could signal a return to frontline Lagos politics, though no official confirmation of his governorship ambition has been issued.
Ambode served as Governor of Lagos State from 2015 to 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His administration was marked by major infrastructure projects, though he failed to secure a second-term ticket.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, Ambode’s endorsement of Tinubu and his renewed public engagements may reshape the political conversation in Lagos and the South-West.
