Wike Denies Land Allocation Allegations, Calls Claims “Sponsored Blackmail”

By Erewunmi Peace

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly denied allegations circulating online that he allocated over 2,000 hectares of land in Abuja to his children, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.

The controversy began after a viral report alleged that the minister granted 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son under the guise of agricultural development. The report sparked outrage on social media, prompting calls for investigation and accountability.

However, in a swift response, Wike — through his Special Adviser on Media, Lere Olayinka — debunked the report, insisting that no such allocation was made to any of his children or family members.

“This is a clear case of sponsored blackmail. The land in question is located in Bwari, not Maitama or Asokoro, and was legally allocated for agricultural purposes — not to Wike’s son or any member of his family,” Olayinka clarified.

He further explained that the purported allocation was made to a corporate entity named JOAQ or Jordan Farms, which has no personal links to the minister.

“We challenge anyone to present a document that shows Wike allocated land to his son. It simply does not exist,” the spokesman added.
