Former local government chairmen from Osun West Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called on party leaders to zone the 2026 governorship ticket to their district, emphasizing justice, fairness, and equity.

During a press conference at the APC Senatorial Secretariat in Iwo, the group stated that Osun West remains the party’s stronghold, having delivered 6 out of 10 local governments in the 2022 election despite facing opposition from a candidate from the same district.

The chairmen, under the Forum of All Former Local Government Chairmen in Osun West, expressed confidence that a candidate from the district could unseat Governor Ademola Adeleke. They also passed a vote of confidence on ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the APC leadership in the state.

The Forum urged the party to prioritize Osun West for the governorship ticket if Oyetola, from Osun Central, opts out of the race. They highlighted the district’s readiness to present a capable candidate to advance the state’s development and secure victory in the election.
