We’re Done With Delay—Nigeria Will Flood Markets With Food, Not Excuses – Bayo Onanuga

By Erewunmi Peace

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared its commitment to urgently addressing the nation’s food crisis by taking bold action to saturate markets with agricultural produce and eliminate barriers in the food supply chain.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the Presidency affirmed that it is “done with delay” and “will flood markets with food, not excuses.”

This assurance comes amid increasing public concern over the rising cost of food and widespread hunger. Onanuga emphasized that the administration is focused on practical results, not empty promises.

“President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is not about giving excuses but delivering results,” Onanuga said. “Nigerians will soon begin to feel the impact of the administration’s interventions as markets are flooded with food, and supply chain bottlenecks are eliminated.”

The Federal Government has rolled out several strategic measures, including:

Direct engagement with farmers to increase production;

Provision of subsidized farm inputs and fertilizers;

Security support for farmers in volatile regions;

Immediate clearance of goods stuck at ports;

And improved logistics to move food faster across the country.

Stakeholders in agriculture and food distribution have been urged to collaborate with government agencies to ensure smooth implementation.

As food insecurity remains a critical issue nationwide, the Presidency’s renewed sense of urgency may mark a turning point in restoring affordability and availability of staple items across Nigerian markets.
