Babalola emerges Rotary International President – Elect

In a historic milestone, Nigerian Rotarian Olayinka Hakeem “Yinka” Babalola has been elected as the President-Elect of Rotary International for the 2026–2027 Rotary year. His tenure will officially begin on July 1, 2026.
Babalola’s election marks a significant achievement, making him the second African and second Nigerian to occupy the prestigious position in the global humanitarian organization’s 120-year history. The first was Jonathan Babatunde Majiyagbe, who served as Rotary International President in 2003–2004.
The announcement was made by the Rotary International Board of Directors and widely celebrated by Rotarians worldwide. Babalola, a member of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, District 9141, Nigeria, is widely recognized for his dedication to humanitarian service, leadership excellence, and commitment to Rotary’s mission of advancing goodwill and peace across the globe.
Speaking on his selection, Babalola reaffirmed his passion for expanding Rotary’s impact, promoting diversity and inclusion, and strengthening service projects that address key global challenges.
Rotary International, headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, USA, is a global network of 1.4 million members dedicated to tackling pressing issues such as polio eradication, clean water access, education, and community development.
This achievement places Nigeria once again on the global leadership map, showcasing the country’s growing influence in international service and humanitarian development.
