The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its vital role in helping Nigeria achieve its 2025 revenue targets.
FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, made this known during a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He highlighted the synergy between both agencies as a key driver in strengthening tax compliance and boosting government revenue.
According to Adedeji, the EFCC’s support in combating tax evasion and financial crimes has greatly improved voluntary compliance among taxpayers, thereby enabling FIRS to surpass expected targets.
In his response, EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with FIRS, stressing that effective collaboration is essential in blocking revenue leakages and ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s financial system.
The meeting also explored new strategies to deepen cooperation, with both agencies pledging to intensify joint efforts in promoting accountability and strengthening the nation’s fiscal policies.
The renewed alliance between FIRS and EFCC is expected to further enhance revenue mobilization and improve public trust in government institutions.
