Makinde Approves Ladoja’s Nomination as 44th Olubadan, Coronation Holds September 26

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially approved the nomination of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, setting the stage for a historic coronation ceremony scheduled to hold on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
This development follows the resolution of all pending traditional council procedures and formal endorsement by the Olubadan-in-Council.
Governor Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary confirmed the approval on Wednesday, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to preserving Ibadan’s cultural heritage.
“His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, has given full approval for the installation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. The coronation date has been fixed for Friday, September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall,” the statement read.
About Oba Ladoja
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and respected Ibadan High Chief, will ascend the throne following the passing of the former Olubadan earlier this year. Ladoja’s elevation has been widely anticipated, given his seniority in the traditional hierarchy.
