NAFDAC Warns Nigerians About Fake Cowbell Milk in Circulation

By Erewunmi Peace
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” sachets in the market.
According to NAFDAC’s Public Alert No. 026/2025, the fake product mimics the packaging of Cowbell “Our Milk” 12 g sachets, which Promasidor Nigeria Ltd officially discontinued in September 2023. The counterfeit version carries an unauthorized NAFDAC registration number and fake manufacturing details.
Promasidor, the original manufacturer, confirmed that the current authentic product line is branded as “Cowbell Our Creamy Goodness”, and any sachets labeled “Our Milk” should be considered suspicious.
NAFDAC warns that consuming counterfeit milk poses serious health risks, as the composition and production process of these fake products are unverified and potentially harmful.
How to Identify the Fake Product
Labeled “Cowbell Our Milk” instead of the new “Our Creamy Goodness” design.
Comes in 12 g sachets resembling old packaging.
May include incorrect production dates and cloned NAFDAC registration numbers.
Consumers are urged to buy products only from trusted sources and report any suspicious milk products to the nearest NAFDAC office or call NAFDAC’s toll-free number: 0800-162-3322.
