The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of a tribal clash at the popular Balogun Market on Lagos Island, clarifying that the incident was a personal dispute between two individuals.
According to police reports, the altercation occurred around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the Mandillas area of the market. The fight involved two men, identified as Ebuka Adindu from Abia State and Sodiq Ibrahim from Kogi State. The disagreement allegedly escalated over a financial issue.
Eyewitnesses stated that Ebuka stabbed Sodiq during the argument, leading to Sodiq’s death. In a dramatic turn, Ebuka inflicted a stab wound on himself and was rendered unconscious. He was later apprehended by police officers and is currently receiving medical treatment under police custody. Authorities confirmed that he will face prosecution upon recovery.
