President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Engineer Olayinka Hakeem Babalola on his historic election as President of Rotary International for the 2026/2027 Rotary year. The announcement has been widely celebrated across Nigeria as a significant global achievement.

A Historic Achievement

Babalola, a distinguished engineer and humanitarian, becomes only the second Nigerian and African to occupy this prestigious position in Rotary International’s 119-year history. He will officially assume office on July 1, 2026, following the resignation of his predecessor, SangKoo Yun, due to health reasons.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu commended Babalola’s exceptional commitment to service, leadership, and philanthropy, describing his election as a testament to Nigeria’s global excellence in humanitarian service.
