President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd.), to prepare comprehensive handover notes ahead of the anticipated return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The directive, according to presidency sources, is part of efforts to restore normal governance in Rivers State following months of political crisis that saw the suspension of the governor and some lawmakers.
Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, was appointed by President Tinubu to oversee the state’s affairs during the period of emergency administration. He has now been instructed to compile a full account of projects, finances, and key government activities to ensure a smooth transition.
Reports suggest that Governor Fubara and the lawmakers could resume duties in the coming days once the handover process is completed.
The development is being seen as a move by the presidency to end the prolonged political tension in Rivers State and pave the way for stability.
Observers note that Tinubu’s directive could mark a turning point in the state’s political landscape, particularly as stakeholders have repeatedly called for the restoration of democratic governance.
