Why I’d Choose Tinubu Over Obi – Adeyanju

By Erewunmi Peace

Human rights activist and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has revealed that he would vote for President Bola Tinubu over Peter Obi if the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate contests again in the 2027 election.

Adeyanju made this statement on Friday during an interview, where he expressed strong reservations about the attitude of some Obi supporters, popularly called Obidients. According to him, their intolerance and online aggression during the last election cycle were major concerns.

“If the opposition fields Peter Obi in 2027, I will vote for Tinubu. Not because I support the APC, but because of the attitude of many Obi supporters. They lack tolerance and engage in unnecessary insults and abuse,” Adeyanju said.

He emphasized that his decision was not rooted in partisan politics but in principle, adding that politics should be about issues, not insults or threats.

Adeyanju also criticized what he described as “toxic political behavior” among certain groups, urging politicians and their supporters to embrace tolerance and respect for differing opinions ahead of the 2027 elections.

This comment has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating whether Adeyanju’s position is justified or politically motivated.
