Yabatech Shines as Lecturers Win ₦62.9 Million Research Grants

Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) has achieved a major academic milestone as two of its lecturers have secured a combined ₦62.9 million in research grants under the TETFund National Research Fund (NRF) intervention program.
According to a statement issued by Mr. Adekunle Adams, Deputy Registrar at Yabatech’s Centre for Information, Communication, and Public Relations, the grants were awarded to lecturers whose innovative proposals focus on solving real-world problems in environmental sustainability and renewable energy.
The Awarded Projects
Dr. Emodi Izuchukwu (School of Art, Design, and Printing) received ₦24.1 million for a groundbreaking project titled “Transforming Marine Pollution into Art.” The initiative aims to convert marine waste into artworks, promoting environmental conservation and cultural creativity.
Dr. Akin Olaleru (School of Engineering) was awarded ₦38.8 million to conduct research on hybrid perovskite semiconductors to enhance the efficiency of photovoltaic (solar) devices, contributing to Nigeria’s clean energy goals.
