The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 51 suspected criminals, including the armourer of a notorious kidnap syndicate, across different parts of the state.
Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects in Akure on Friday, said the operation was carried out in all 18 local government areas of Ondo State.
According to Adeleye, one of the suspects confessed to being the armourer for kidnappers operating within and outside the state. The suspect admitted to supplying arms and participating in at least five major kidnapping operations.
“We arrested six confirmed kidnap suspects, among them a man who serves as their armourer. He confessed to keeping their weapons and joining them on missions,” Adeleye said.
The commander also revealed that several informants working for kidnappers and armed robbers were apprehended. These informants, he explained, disguised as hawkers or petty traders while passing vital information to criminal gangs.
Adeleye assured residents that Amotekun would continue to flush out criminals from Ondo communities, while urging citizens to provide timely information to aid security operations.
The suspects, numbering 51, are expected to be charged to court after investigations.
