Nurses’ Association Petitions Kwara Governor Over Harassment, Unsafe Practices At Oke-Ero Health Centre

By Erewunmi Peace

The Nigerian Nurses Union has petitioned the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, over alleged harassment of its members and unsafe practices at the Oke-Ero Health Centre.

In the petition, the association raised concerns about what it described as “unethical practices and workplace harassment” threatening both staff welfare and patient safety at the facility. It also alleged that a nurse who reported cases of assault and harassment was recently transferred in what the union termed “political victimization.”

The group appealed to the governor to intervene urgently, stressing that the safety of health workers and patients was at risk if the issues were not addressed.

Meanwhile, the Nurses’ Forum condemned what it called the unlawful transfer of its member, warning that such actions could discourage whistleblowing and worsen poor health service delivery in rural communities.

As at the time of filing this report, the Kwara State government has yet to release an official response to the allegations.
