Dismissed DSS Operatives Arrested for Impersonation and Fraud

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested two dismissed officers for alleged impersonation and fraudulent activities.
In a statement released by the Service, the suspects — Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin — were apprehended after continued reports that they were using the DSS identity to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The DSS explained that both individuals were dismissed from service long ago and had since ceased to be staff of the organization. Despite this, they allegedly continued to pose as operatives, conducting illegal activities and collecting money under false pretenses.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that the aforementioned individuals were dismissed from the DSS years ago. They have no affiliation with the Service. Their arrest follows a series of fraudulent acts carried out in the name of the DSS,” the statement read in part.
According to the DSS, the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are completed. The Service also warned citizens to be wary of individuals claiming DSS identity for personal gain, advising that anyone approached by suspected impostors should contact the nearest DSS office or security agency.
The DSS reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, discipline, and accountability within its ranks while assuring Nigerians that appropriate measures are being taken to curb impersonation and protect public trust.
