Edo Govt Demolishes Four Houses, Arrests 20 Suspected Cultists in Auchi

By Erewunmi Peace

The Edo State Government has intensified its crackdown on cultism and violent crime, with security operatives demolishing four houses and arresting at least 20 suspected cultists in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.

The operation, codenamed “Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers,” was led by the state’s Special Security Squad. The demolitions targeted properties allegedly linked to cult activities, including hideouts in Egbiadokhai Street, Anoguele Street, and Ibie-Nafe.

Recovered items included two cut-to-size guns, two black beret caps linked to the Black Axe confraternity, and a sharp axe.

Speaking on the development, security officials said the government would continue to pursue individuals and groups involved in cultism, kidnapping, and other crimes threatening the peace of Edo communities.

The Edo State Government has in recent months stepped up anti-cultism operations following rising cases of violent clashes in Auchi and surrounding areas.
