Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated 21 new shuttle buses to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The donation, confirmed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, marks the first phase of a 50-bus project promised by the First Lady to support the institution’s internal transport system.

According to reports, the buses were officially received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, alongside other principal officers of the university. The initiative aims to ease student movement within the campus and reduce dependence on commercial motorcycles.

Speaking through her office, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said the gesture reflects her commitment to improving students’ welfare and promoting safer, more reliable campus transportation.

University authorities and student representatives expressed deep appreciation for the donation, describing it as a “timely intervention” that will greatly enhance mobility and safety within the university community.

The First Lady also reaffirmed her intention to deliver the remaining 29 buses in the coming months as part of her educational support initiative for Nigerian tertiary institutions.
