The Oyo State Government has announced the temporary closure of major roads in Ibadan on Friday, September 27, to ensure smooth traffic management and adequate security during the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
According to the coronation organising committee, the affected roads will be shut from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event, particularly routes leading to Mapo Hall, the main venue of the historic ceremony.
Roads to be Closed:
Beere Junction inward Mapo Hall
Born Photo Junction inward Oja’ba
Idi-Arere Junction inward Oja’ba
Itamerin Junction inward Mapo Hall
Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes, and only security personnel, accredited guests, and official convoys — including those of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde — will be allowed access.
The Oyo State Government, through its official communication channels, advised motorists and residents to plan their movements accordingly, assuring that normal flow of traffic will resume once the event concludes.
Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, succeeds as the 44th Olubadan, marking a significant moment in Ibadan’s traditional and cultural history.
The coronation is expected to attract dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
