INEC Approves Promotion of 471 Junior Staff, Reviews Preparations for Anambra, FCT Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the promotion of 471 junior staff across various cadres following recommendations from its Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee.
The approval came during the Commission’s regular weekly meeting chaired by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. According to the Commission, the promotions cut across staff on Grade Levels 03 to 06, with many elevated to the next rank in recognition of their service.
INEC explained that the decision was part of its ongoing commitment to staff welfare and career progression, noting that the exercise was based on merit and due process.
Meanwhile, the Commission also reviewed its preparations for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Elections, and party primaries ahead of the Ekiti and Osun governorship polls.
Prof. Yakubu reaffirmed INEC’s readiness to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections, stressing that adequate measures are being put in place to ensure credible polls.
The Commission urged political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to play by the rules, adding that the cooperation of all Nigerians remains vital to the success of the electoral process.
