Kachikwu Warns Opposition Coalition: “You’re on a Slippery Slope”

Former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has issued a stern warning to opposition leaders who recently adopted the ADC as their 2027 platform, calling the move “unconstitutional” and “doomed to fail.”
Kachikwu, who contested the 2023 presidential elections under the ADC, expressed concern that the coalition is aligning with a faction of the party that is no longer recognized by law.
“Two courts in two different jurisdictions ruled that Ralph Nwosu’s tenure ended in August 2022. Yet these opposition politicians are dealing with him and his expired executive,” he stated in a video message.
The group, led by former Senate President David Mark and other prominent politicians, had recently announced the ADC as the platform for their “rescue mission” ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, Kachikwu argued that they are engaging with a “political gang” that lacks constitutional backing.
He further revealed that some members of the coalition have privately reached out to him, expressing regret for joining the party without addressing the internal leadership crisis.
“All these men now realise they made a mistake. They are reaching out to me, but I tell them the same thing — you’re in the wrong ADC,” he said.
Kachikwu described the coalition as a recycled group of elites who have not offered a concrete plan for solving Nigeria’s challenges beyond opposition rhetoric.
“We’ve heard all the grammar before. Nigerians want real change, not just another roundtable of elites talking down at them.”
He called on well-meaning Nigerians and political stakeholders to demand transparency, legality, and reform, warning that “if we don’t get it right now, we may never have a truly people-centered government.”
