Meet Ondo State’s Newly Inaugurated Commissioners and Their Portfolios

In a move to bolster the administrative structure of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially sworn in 16 new commissioners, each assigned to strategic ministries within the state. The swearing-in ceremony, which took place in Akure on July 15, 2025, marks a significant step in the governor’s plan to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across key sectors.

The newly appointed commissioners and their respective portfolios are as follows:

  1. Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun – Commissioner for Education
  2. Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye – Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing
  3. Hon. Ayodele Akande – Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Sanitation
  4. Engr. Alabi Johnson – Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources
  5. Alhaji Amidu Takuro – Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
  6. Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu – Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations
  7. Mr. Idowu Ajanaku – Commissioner for Information and Orientation
  8. Dr. Seun Abosede Osamaye – Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development
  9. Dr. Tob Loko – Commissioner for Environment
  10. Mr. Olaolu Akindolire – Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning
  11. Hon. Sunday Olajide – Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development
  12. Mr. Omoyofunmi Segun Henry – Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development
  13. Pastor Bola Ademuwagun – Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives
  14. Engr. Leye Akinola – Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry
  15. Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka – Commissioner for Health
  16. Hon. Adesoji Afolabi – Commissioner for Culture and Tourism

During the ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the new commissioners to embrace transparency, efficiency, and dedication in their roles, emphasizing the need to serve the people of Ondo State with integrity and innovation. He stated, “This is a call to service, not a celebration of appointment. We must work collectively to achieve results that impact the lives of our people.”

The inauguration is widely seen as a calculated step in repositioning Ondo State for inclusive development and policy continuity.
