North-East Now Safer After Major Counter-Terrorism Wins – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has declared that the North-East region is now safer following a series of successful counter-terrorism operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents.
According to a statement from Army Headquarters, recent joint operations by troops of Operation Hadin Kai led to the neutralization of dozens of insurgents, the arrest of several key commanders, and the rescue of kidnapped civilians across parts of Borno and Yobe States.
The Army described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region, which has faced more than a decade of insurgent violence.
“Our troops have recorded significant progress in dismantling terrorist networks and reclaiming territories previously under threat,” the statement noted. “Residents can now move more freely, and normal economic activities are returning in several communities.”
Security analysts, however, caution that while the military gains are commendable, isolated attacks and ambushes still occur, and long-term peace will depend on sustained security presence, intelligence sharing, and rehabilitation programs for affected communities.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring lasting security across the country and urged citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information.
