Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on politicians across the country to prioritize the interests of the people above political party affiliations.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Lagos on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that governance must rise above partisan considerations once elections are over.
“Party aside, once we win an election, people should put party aside and let’s run the government. The government is about the people,” she stated.
The First Lady stressed that public service should be anchored on a genuine commitment to improving the lives of citizens rather than personal or party loyalty. She urged political leaders to embrace collaboration and unity to ensure sustainable development and good governance.
The meeting, attended by key stakeholders from different political backgrounds, focused on fostering inclusive governance and strengthening citizen-centered policies through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Mrs. Tinubu reiterated her belief that progress is only possible when leaders put the people first, regardless of their party lines.
